This Crafted Lager has a combination of 83% MaltEurop lager malt, 10% sucrose, and 7% Gladfield wheat malt to create a crisp and refreshing backbone, with NZ Hops Green Bullet™ hops for bitterness. It includes a 11.5g sachet of Fermentis Yeast: SafAle™ US-05 style specific yeast.
This Lager pours a pale golden color with an SRM of 3, offering a clean and crisp malt profile. The blend of MaltEurop lager malt and Gladfield wheat malt provides a smooth, light body with a subtle sweetness. The bitterness from NZ Hops Green Bullet™ is well-balanced, contributing to a refreshing finish with an IBU of 26. At 5.3% ABV, this Lager is both sessionable and satisfying, making it a perfect choice for any occasion.
Change the brew volume to alter your ABV and IBU (approximate values below):
18L - ABV 6.8%, IBU 33
20L - ABV 6.1%, IBU 30
23L - ABV 5.3%, IBU 26
25L - ABV 4.9%, IBU 24
We highly recommend using dry hopping practices during fermentation on these kits to get real crafty hop aroma and flavour. Dry hopping is adding fresh palleted hops* into your fermenter as the fermentation activity starts to slow (approximately after 5-7 days).
*Always use fresh, nitrogen flushed, refrigerated hops available from your local home brew retailer to prevent oxidation and staling of your finished beer.
Suggested hop additions:
German Pilsner: Use Hallertau Mittelfrüh and/or Tettnang for a classic, crisp bitterness with floral and herbal notes.
Czech Pilsner: Use Saaz hops for a delicate, spicy, and earthy aroma.
American Lager: Use Cluster and/or Liberty for a clean, mild bitterness with subtle floral and citrus notes.
Vienna Lager: Use Perle and/or Saaz for a balanced bitterness with a hint of spice and floral character.
Helles Lager: Use Hersbrucker and/or Hallertau Mittelfrüh for a mild, balanced bitterness with a touch of floral and herbal notes.
New Zealand Lager: Use NZ Hops Motueka™ and/or Wakatu™ for a refreshing citrus and floral aroma.
